The Heavenly Garden: The Story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden

The Heavenly Garden is the second in a series of booklets which depict for children the teachings of the orthodox Church on Old and New Testament themes. In the iconographic style of the Eastern Orthodox Church it develops many aspects of this biblical account. This vivid portrayal of the birth of the Angels, the creation of Adam and Eve and of Paradise and the Fall comes from the frescoes and manuscripts of Athonite monasteries as well as Orthodox churches throughout the world.
To explain these sequences with clarity and depth two texts based on the Fathers of the Orthodox Church are included. One entitled 'Adam and the First-Created World' by Saint Symeon the New Theologian provides insight into the Orthodox understanding of the fall of Adam and Eve. They will provide invaluable assistance in helping both parents and Sunday school teachers bring this understanding to their children. -- Backcover
