Meeting of the Lord, also known as the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple

This is one of the great Feasts of the Orthodox Church.

Joseph, together with the Most Holy Virgin Mary present her Child and the Lord into the Temple at 40 days of age. Symeon who was waiting to receive the Christ and Messiah before he departs this world states:
Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace according to Your word. For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all people. A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel. (Luke 2:29-32).
