Extracted from the letters of this great nineteenth century Russian saint, this short work profoundly conveys a truly Christian understanding of those “who seek for a sign,” perhaps even more relevant now then when first written.
St. Ignatius (Branchininov) was one of the leading spiritual writers of 19th Century Russia. He became a monk in 1831 and the bishop of the Caucasus and the Black Sea in 1857. He devoted much of his life to writing spiritual works. He reposed in 1867 and was canonized in 1988. His feastday is celebrated on April 30th.
