Based on the Spoken Teaching of Father John Romanides
This book analyses patristic theology and scholastic theology of the West. Patristic theology relies on God’s revelation to the Prophers, Apostle and Fathers. Western scholastic theology is based on philosophy, in an attempt to understand God through reason. in patristic theology, the prerequisites for knowledge of God are purification, illumination and deification, whereas scholastic theology presupposes the analogia entis (analogy of being) and the analogia fidei (analogy of faith) are to be found in the united Christian Empire of the Romans, whereas scholastic theology finds expression in Western Europe as shaped by the Franks. These are indeed two different theological traditions.
