Born through the tearful prayers of his barren mother, who then dedicated her child to God, Saint Daniel embraced the monastic life at the age of twelve. Out of intense love for God, he later climbed up onto a pillar and remained there for nearly forty years until his death, enduring both heat and cold, and fierce attacks from demons. Many disciples gathered around his pillar, and the multitude of his miracles drew princes, patriarchs, and peasants seeking his counsel.
